Street View is all about capturing the world as it changes and it’s also a powerful way to reminisce about the past. Now it's easier than ever to travel back in time right from your phone.
For Google's 15 birthday, I was asked to create a PR assets and a GIF of the time machine feature to get Google's audience excited about trying it on iOS and Android.
Ideally, the assets would show how some accesses the feature and user "time traveling" in a location. With this is mind, I quickly created hi-fi wireframes for my prototype in Figma ensuring I added the new popover component I helped implement into the designs.
The designs were iterated upon until a decision was made on the final GIF assets.
In celebration of Street View’s birthday, you’ll have the opportunity to make your navigation icon a celebratory Street View car – just tap the chevron when you’re in driving navigation. And on desktop, our beloved Pegman – who you can pick up and drop anywhere in Maps to see Street View – will be dressed up in a birthday hat and balloons for the celebration.
